Raynaud’s disease or Raynaud’s phenomenon has a close association with other autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjogren’s syndrome, and is treated by a rheumatologist. Raynaud’s is more common in people who live in colder climates, and seen in more women, than men. Triggers such as cold or stress cause small blood vessels in the fingers or toes to spasm, decreasing blood flow. Cigarette smoking must be avoided. Symptoms include white, bluish, or red fingers and toes, a prickly sensation or numbness. Medications can help open blood vessels to increase blood flow to the fingers and toes. #raynauds #autoimmunedisease #sjogrens #bloodvessels #numbness #coldweather #rheumatologist #rheumatoidarthritis Lankenau Medical Center ...
